PupilHive is built for teachers. Your data and your students' data belong to you — not to us. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.
1. What We Collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We also collect data you enter into PupilHive: student records, attendance logs, quiz content, and notes. We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security and reliability purposes.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your information solely to operate and improve PupilHive. This includes authenticating your account, syncing your classroom data across devices, and providing AI-assisted features like quiz generation and report drafting. We do not use your data or your students' data for advertising, analytics products, or any purpose outside the service.
3. What We Do Not Do
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not share student data with any party except as required by law or as directed by you. We do not use student data to build profiles, train general AI models, or for any commercial purpose beyond delivering the service you signed up for.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit. We follow industry-standard security practices including access controls, regular audits, and breach notification procedures. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure — we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication on your Google account.
5. Student Data and FERPA
PupilHive is designed with student privacy in mind. Student records you enter are treated as confidential educational records under FERPA. We act as a school official with a legitimate educational interest, and we do not disclose student data except as required by law or authorized by your institution.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our active systems within 30 days. Anonymized, non-identifiable usage data may be retained for product improvement.
7. Your Rights
You may access, update, or delete your personal data at any time from your account settings. You may also request a full export of your data by contacting us. If you are in the EU or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to object to processing and the right to data portability.
8. Cookies
We use essential session cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from staying signed in.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of PupilHive after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
